From Development to Protection

OSI is dedicated to delivering high-quality subsea network connectivity on a global scale. OSI serves a variety of markets and our project experience ranges from regional to international networks throughout the Americas, Asia Pacific, Africa, and Europe. Our clients range from telecom and Oil & Gas operators to financing and banking, government and academia.
Subsea Telecom

Subsea Telecom

Developing fiber optic networks. The demand for secure, diverse, low latency network connections continues to grow, driven by the increased need for emerging technologies and applications. OSI has provided network consulting to the majority of submarine cable builds since 1997. In fact, over the past 5 years, OSI has had a leading role in subsea cable network builds totaling over $1 billion in value. Our clients’ telecommunications projects have ranged in scope from regional to international networks in Asia Pacific, Africa, Latin America and Europe.
Government and DoD support services

Government and DoD support services

Technology development and deployment. Ocean Specialists is adept at program development and coordinating marine assets and personnel for Deployment and Recovery activities. Ocean Specialists provides field personnel, vessels, winches, and A-frames to meet the needs of such commercial and defense related projects worldwide. OSI is also capable of discrete deployment for Search and Recovery assets utilizing both internal and external specialized assets.
Power Cables

Power Cables

Developing subsea power interconnections. OSI is committed to supporting the offshore renewable energy market as it develops and grows into a key source of energy for the Americas region. Our teams leverage the skills and technologies acquired during the company’s long history of service in the subsea Telecom, Oil & Gas, and Ocean Observing industries to benefit our customers in the submarine power cable and offshore renewable energy markets.
Oil & Gas

Oil & Gas

Connecting onshore and offshore assets. Fiber optic cable networks are the most effective, most secure and most reliable way to transmit information between offshore fields, and from offshore fields to onshore facilities. Oil companies use high-speed fiber networks to support risk management and improve field safety records, to increase field monitoring capabilities, to greatly enhance remote field operations and to take advantage of real-time information that expands field economies. While radio, satellite and VSAT have historically been the methods of telecommunication between offshore platforms and onshore locations, operators are now realizing that subsea cables provide a future-proof field solution that is both highly reliable and extremely secure.

OSI led the development of the first purpose-built independently operated oil and gas network and has continued this industry leadership role, actively developing more oil and gas telecommunications networks than any other project development or engineering organization.
Ocean Sciences & Observing

Ocean Sciences & Observing

Protecting the ocean environment. The planning and development of subsea ocean observing networks is driven by the need to collect and analyze data for oceanographic research, environmental baselines and long-term monitoring. This data plays an important role in ocean science and technology. OSI supports ocean observing and research efforts through partnerships with governments and NGOs across the world, by aiding the collection and analysis of industry research and by supporting ocean resource stewardship.
Seabed Mining

Seabed Mining

Seabed and floating systems for monitoring and communications. Ocean Specialists has the marine operational and in-house engineering experience to plan, design and develop seabed and floating communication and monitoring systems for seabed mining projects.
